Role Overview
As the School Counsellor at Nova Pioneer, you will have the opportunity to model, live, and lead the Nova Culture while delivering a comprehensive counseling program designed to support student welfare and academic success. You will work collaboratively with school leadership to ensure a supportive environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities
Policy and Program Development: Collaboratively develop a Comprehensive School Counseling Policy and maintain a written plan for effective delivery based on best practices and the school’s ethos.
Direct Counseling Services: Provide individual and group counseling to students with identified concerns. Deliver Guidance Curriculum, Individual Student Planning, and Preventive and Responsive Services.
Stakeholder Communication: Communicate program goals to administrators, teachers, parents, and community leaders. Assist stakeholders in interpreting and understanding student data.
Data and Reporting: Use data to develop programs that meet student needs; provide termly data analysis and reports for the School Principal.
Referral and Follow-up: Implement effective referral and follow-up processes, including consulting on external service providers when necessary.
Culture and Wellness: Plan and deliver routine wellness sessions and parenting workshops. Collaborate with the Dean of Students to incorporate social and emotional learning during morning meetings.
Administrative Duties: Maintain documentation on all counseling visits/sessions and incidents. Conduct a yearly audit to review counseling needs and trends.
Professional Conduct: Adhere to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the school counseling profession.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Professional Training in Counselling with a Higher National Diploma or Degree in Counselling Psychology.
Experience: Between 3-5 years of experience in institutional counselling.
Specialization: Previous experience counselling children or teenagers is required (experience with special needs preferred).
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear and persuasive pitches.
Personal Attributes: Results-driven, goal-oriented, detail-oriented, and conscientious. Ability to exercise discretion in handling sensitive matters.
Cultural Alignment: Proactive and enthusiastic approach with an openness to feedback and a desire to embrace the organization's culture of mutual vulnerability.
