Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully fledged chartered university committed to a broad-based, wholistic and inclusive system of education. The University is seeking a Visiting Lecturer in Mycology to join the Medical School. The successful candidate will deliver lectures, facilitate learning sessions, and provide academic support to students while adhering to approved curricula and professional standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver lectures and facilitate learning sessions in assigned areas of specialization (Mycology) in accordance with the approved curriculum.
Prepare and submit teaching materials, lesson plans, and learning resources in a timely manner.
Administer Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs), assignments, practical assessments, and examinations as scheduled.
Set, invigilate, and mark examinations and submit results within stipulated timelines.
Provide students with academic guidance, mentorship, and support.
Ensure effective delivery of course content through appropriate teaching methodologies and learner engagement techniques.
Maintain accurate student attendance, assessment records, and academic progress reports.
Keep abreast of developments and emerging trends within the academic field to enrich teaching and learning.
Participate in curriculum review and academic quality assurance activities.
Engage in scholarly activities including research, publications, conferences, and seminars.
Observe and comply with University policies, academic regulations, and professional standards.
Undertake any other academic-related duties assigned by the Dean or Head of Department.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
Master of Medicine in relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience at a university level.
Relevant work experience in the industry.
Registered and licensed to practice by the Relevant Professional Body.
An earned PhD degree qualification in the relevant area or being registered/registrable for a PhD will be an added advantage.
