Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking a qualified Visiting Lecturer in Internal Medicine to join the Medical School. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering lectures, facilitating learning sessions, and ensuring the effective delivery of the curriculum in accordance with university standards. This role requires a blend of academic expertise and practical industry experience to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of internal medicine.
Key Responsibilities
Lecture Delivery: Deliver lectures and facilitate learning sessions in assigned areas of specialization according to the approved curriculum and course outlines.
Material Preparation: Prepare and submit teaching materials, lesson plans, and learning resources for assigned courses in a timely manner.
Assessment and Evaluation: Administer Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs), assignments, practical assessments, and examinations as scheduled. Set, invigilate, and mark examinations and submit results within stipulated timelines.
Student Support: Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and support to students in their areas of study.
Educational Quality: Use appropriate teaching methodologies and engagement techniques to ensure effective course delivery. Participate in curriculum review and academic quality assurance activities.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate student attendance records, assessment records, and academic progress reports.
Professional Development: Keep abreast of developments and emerging trends within the medical field to enrich teaching and learning. Engage in scholarly activities such as research, publications, and professional practice.
Compliance: Observe and comply with University policies, academic regulations, and professional standards.
Reporting: Reporting to the Dean, Medical School.
Requirements and Qualifications
Medical Degree: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
Specialization: Masters of Medicine in a relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
Experience: At least three years of teaching and research experience at a university level.
Industry Experience: Relevant work experience within the medical industry.
Licensure: Must be registered and licensed to practice by the Relevant Professional Body.
Advanced Degree: An earned PhD degree in the relevant area or being registered/registrable for a PhD degree qualification will be an added advantage.
