Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully fledged chartered university committed to a broad-based, wholistic and inclusive system of education. The university is seeking a Visiting Lecturer in Geriatrics for its Medical School. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic instruction, mentorship, and research guidance to students within the medical program.
Responsibilities
Deliver lectures and facilitate learning sessions in assigned areas of specialization in accordance with the approved curriculum.
Prepare and submit teaching materials, lesson plans, and learning resources for assigned courses in a timely manner.
Administer Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs), assignments, practical assessments, and examinations.
Set, invigilate, and mark examinations and submit results within stipulated timelines.
Provide students with academic guidance, mentorship, and support in their areas of study.
Ensure effective delivery of course content through appropriate teaching methodologies and engagement techniques.
Maintain accurate student attendance records, assessment records, and progress reports.
Keep abreast of developments and emerging trends in Geriatrics to enrich teaching and learning.
Participate in curriculum review and academic quality assurance activities.
Engage in scholarly and professional activities including research, publications, and seminars.
Observe and comply with University policies, academic regulations, and professional standards.
Undertake any other academic-related duties assigned by the Dean or Head of Department.
Qualifications and Experience
Masters of Medicine (MMed) in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience at a university level.
Relevant work experience in the industry.
Registered and licensed to practice by the relevant Professional Body.
An earned PhD degree in the relevant area (or being registered/registrable for a PhD) is an added advantage.
