Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully fledged chartered university committed to a broad-based, wholistic and inclusive system of education. The university is seeking to appoint a Visiting Lecturer in Dermatology to deliver high-quality medical education within the Medical School.
Responsibilities and Duties
Reporting to the Dean, Medical School, the candidate will:
Deliver lectures and facilitate learning sessions in assigned areas of specialization in accordance with the approved curriculum.
Prepare and submit teaching materials, lesson plans, and learning resources in a timely manner.
Administer Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs), assignments, practical assessments, and examinations.
Set, invigilate, and mark examinations and submit results within stipulated timelines.
Provide students with academic guidance, mentorship, and support.
Ensure effective delivery of course content through appropriate teaching methodologies.
Maintain accurate student attendance records, assessment records, and academic progress reports.
Keep abreast of developments and emerging trends within the relevant academic or professional field.
Participate in curriculum review and academic quality assurance activities.
Engage in scholarly and professional activities including research, publications, conferences, and seminars.
Observe and comply with University policies, academic regulations, and professional standards.
Undertake any other academic-related duties assigned by the Dean or Head of Department.
Requirements and Experience
Masters of Medicine in relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
At least three (3) years teaching and research experience at a university.
Relevant Work experience in Industry.
Registered and licensed to practice by the Relevant Professional Body.
An earned PhD degree qualification in the relevant area or being registered/registrable for a PhD degree will be an added advantage.
