As a Vetting Officer at Save the Children, you will be responsible for conducting daily vetting checks on newly submitted suppliers, partners, donors, and buyers, as well as performing re-vetting checks on existing entities. The role involves executing complex due diligence investigations to identify potential risks and ensuring that all vetting activities align with approved procedures and humanitarian service levels.
Principal Accountabilities
- Vetting Operations: Conduct daily vetting checks on newly submitted suppliers, partners, donors, and buyers, and re-vetting checks on existing, previously vetted names.
- Compliance: Ensure that vetting is done in line with the approved vetting procedures and guidelines and within the agreed humanitarian and development vetting service levels.
- Due Diligence: Execute complex due diligence investigations to confirm or deny true matches in accordance with the agreed vetting guidelines and procedures.
- Decision Support: Seek advice from team members, Line Managers, or Legal Compliance when unsure on how to proceed with a specific case to avoid making decisions based on assumptions.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise daily with vetting requestors in Country Offices, responding to requests by providing clearance, blocking the use of entities/individuals, or flagging identified risks.
- Risk Escalation: Escalate high-risk cases in line with the approved vetting escalation procedure to relevant teams including Partnerships, Supply Chain, Legal Compliance, Treasury, and Risk.
- Process Improvement: Actively contribute to continuous vetting process improvements and capacity strengthening activities with country offices.
- Team Support: Work as an active member of the vetting team, providing support in times of increased workload or staff absence and adjusting to changing priorities.
- Systems Management: Process data in internal systems such as SAP Ariba ProSave, Awards Management System (AMS), and external sanctions and money laundering screening systems.
- Reporting: Prepare vetting data for reporting and build reports using Excel and Power BI.
- Security: Work in compliance with SCI’s Data Protection Policy and IT Security procedures to ensure data is stored safely and shared only for vetting purposes.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: A bachelor's degree in business, international relations, risk management, compliance, or a related field.
- IT Skills: Proficient IT skills, with high competence in Microsoft Excel. Experience with ProSave, AMS, or Power BI is beneficial.
- Data Protection: Knowledge of General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) standards is required.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct thorough investigations and analyze complex data sets.
- Professionalism: High attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a diverse, cross-cultural team.
- Adaptability: High flexibility and ability to adjust priorities and work assignments at short notice.
- Experience: Demonstrable experience in secure data handling, data management, and collaborative working across departments.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in implementing training and capacity-building initiatives.
- Technical experience using sanctions and money-laundering screening systems.
- Experience conducting detailed due diligence and risk assessments within SCI's context.
- Professional certifications in compliance or risk management.
