The Van Salesman will be responsible for selling and distributing FMCG products (including juices and ice pops) to retail outlets within Nairobi and its environs, ensuring strong market coverage, accurate stock management, timely collections, and achievement of sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Sell and distribute FMCG products to assigned outlets within Nairobi and surrounding areas.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to drive repeat sales.
- Load, unload, and safeguard stock while in transit.
- Maintain accurate daily records of sales, collections, stock issued, returns, and balances.
- Collect payments and ensure prompt remittance of all sales proceeds.
- Prepare and submit daily and weekly sales and stock reports.
- Ensure the company van is clean, roadworthy, and used responsibly.
- Identify new sales opportunities and expand route coverage.
- Meet or exceed assigned sales and distribution targets.
Remuneration
Compensation for this role includes:
- Monthly retainer (fixed pay).
- Commission payable on all fully paid-up sales.
- Commission structure and targets will be communicated and reviewed periodically based on performance.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field is an added advantage.
- Proven experience in FMCG sales, preferably van or route sales for at least 2 years.
- Ability to record and submit sales reports, handle stock loading/unloading, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Basic numeracy and reconciliation skills.
- Valid driving licence.
