The Department of Surgery at Aga Khan University Hospital is seeking an experienced Urology Surgeon to coordinate and monitor high-quality educational programs, contribute to scholarship, and provide exemplary clinical service. The successful candidate will work in line with the departmental practice plan to deliver quality urology services to patients and their families, while also mentoring the next generation of medical professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Education and Training: Support residents during their rotations, and implement and monitor educational programs to ensure all program outcomes are achieved.
Assessment and Examination: Assist in the setting of examinations and ensure that formative assessments for residents and interns are completed accurately and on time.
Research and Scholarship: Promote and facilitate research activities among residents, participate in scholarly activities including educational and clinical research, and facilitate the publication of research work.
Clinical Quality and Audits: Generate regular audits from clinical practice to ensure services are aligned with expected clinical outcomes and international standards.
Clinical Service: Provide pre-determined outpatient and inpatient clinical services as part of the surgical team.
Specialized Care: Establish clinical services aligned to specific areas of interest and specialization while attending to emergency cases as required.
Teaching Activities: Maintain a regular schedule of clinical teaching activities for students and residents.
Requirements
Applicants must hold a Master of Medicine (MMed) or its equivalent qualification.
Must be registered or eligible for registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ & Dentists Council (KMPDC) as a specialist.
A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience at a reputable healthcare institution is required.
Should hold a minimum academic position of Instructor.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Experience in leadership roles within medical education and clinical fields is highly desirable.
