The Underwriting Credit Analyst is responsible for owning the Credit Risk Analysis for Citi Corporate Clients and for the continuous monitoring of that portfolio. This role includes the production of Annual Reviews, Quarterly Reviews, and providing support for Ad-Hoc Transactions and Portfolio & Industry Reviews.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Assessment: Assess the credit and financial strength of Citi’s Corporate Clients based in Sub-Saharan Africa by performing fundamental credit analysis using both quantitative and qualitative factors.
Analysis Documentation: Complete Credit Analysis Write-up Memos and assign internal ratings based on independent assessment and judgment derived from client due diligence and industry knowledge.
Risk Monitoring: Conduct continuous monitoring of the covered portfolio, following industry trends, tracking impacts to key relationships, and escalating potential credit issues to Senior Underwriters, Risk, and Banking partners.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with regional and industry stakeholders in Banking and Independent Risk to implement credit assessment and monitoring standards for applicable portfolios.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: BA/BSc or higher degree in Business (MBA) or any other related subject.
Professional Experience: 0-3 years of credit experience in Banking, Credit Risk Management, or equivalent credit experience.
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of Citi policies and procedures with the ability to execute change seamlessly.
Analytical Skills: Intermediate analytical skills, including understanding key financial components like liquidity positions and leverage profiles, with the ability to identify root causes and anticipate horizon issues.

Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly to audiences of varying seniority levels.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build relationships and exert influence with and without direct authority.
Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage time/priorities effectively.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Language: Strong proficiency (Read, Write, Speak) in both French and English.
