The Relationship Manager for SME in Malindi is responsible for achieving business growth within the SME segment. The role holder will maintain a holistic view of all accounts within their portfolio, utilizing lead generation and account prioritization to cross-sell bank products and extract maximum value while building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Acquisition and Business Development
Drive the growth of the Branch SME portfolio (Non-Funded Income, deposits, and assets) by acquiring new-to-bank customers through lead generation and collaboration with Business Sales Officers.
Generate referrals to various business partners within the bank to meet the comprehensive financial needs of entrepreneurs and borrowing entities.
Ensure customer acquisition for digital channels and onboard clients onto platforms like Gab Pesa and Internet banking.
Expand relationships with existing SME clients and identify new partnership opportunities within the current portfolio.
Portfolio Profitability, Cross-selling, and Retention
Deepen existing relationships to grow portfolio size across products, NFI, deposits, and assets.
Execute retention plans for portfolio deposits and loans in conjunction with Branch Managers.
Monitor account planning to advise clients on potential financial solutions based on their specific needs.
Manage maturing fixed deposits by notifying customers and encouraging retention.
Collaborate with product specialists to deliver effective customer solutions and resolve queries timely.
Adhere to minimum customer touchpoints, including quarterly visits and monthly calls/emails.
Evaluate credit proposals and ensure timely processing within the bank's set turnaround times.
Customer Service and Compliance
Manage account opening documentation and ensure accurate data capture in the system (CIF generation).
Maintain and update customer data regarding business turnover and director details.
Ensure strict compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements, including KYC and AML policies.
Follow business operational and credit policies consistently.
Requirements and Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in any field.
At least 2-3 years of experience in managing client relationships within a financial environment.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
Strong understanding of business life-cycles and SME-specific financial products.
