The Underwriting Credit Analyst is responsible for owning the Credit Risk Analysis for Citi Corporate Clients and for the continuous monitoring of that portfolio. The role involves the production of Annual Reviews, Quarterly Reviews, and providing critical support to Ad-Hoc Transactions and Portfolio & Industry Reviews.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Assessment: Assess the credit and financial strength of Citi’s Corporate Clients based in Sub-Saharan Africa by performing fundamental credit analysis of counterparties using both quantitative and qualitative factors.
Risk Documentation: Complete Credit Analysis Write-up Memos and assign internal ratings based on independent assessment and judgement completed on the due diligence of the client and industry knowledge.
Portfolio Monitoring: Maintain continuous monitoring of the covered portfolio, including following industry trends, tracking impacts to key relationships, and escalating potential credit issues to Senior Underwriters, Risk, and Banking partners.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with regional and industry stakeholders in Banking and Independent Risk to implement credit assessment and monitoring standards for applicable portfolios.
Skills and Experience
Experience: 0-3 years of demonstrable financial services experience, including credit experience in Banking, Credit Risk Management, or an equivalent credit-focused role.
Analytical Ability: Intermediate analytical skills, including a solid understanding of key financial components such as liquidity position and leverage profile, with the ability to identify root causes and trends.
Policy & Compliance: Ability to understand Citi policies and procedures with the capability to execute changes seamlessly.
Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and exert influence; excellent organizational skills to manage time and priorities effectively under pressure.
Communication: Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills for audiences of varying levels of seniority.
Technical Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Language Requirements
French: Strong proficiency in Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
English: Strong proficiency in Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
Qualifications
A BA/BSc or higher degree in Business (MBA) or any other related subject.
