Baron Capital Limited is a non-deposit taking lending institution, registered in Kenya since 2016, providing financial solutions such as logbook loans, title deed loans, asset financing, and loan buy-offs. We are looking for Debt Collection Officers to join our team in Nairobi.
Role Overview
The Debt Collection Officer is responsible for managing the recovery of overdue accounts while ensuring compliance with legal and company standards. The role involves consistent communication with clients and hands-on field operations to negotiate repayments and recover outstanding debts.
Key Responsibilities
Client Communication: Contact overdue account holders via telephone, email, or official letters to remind them of their obligations and negotiate repayment plans.
Field Operations: Conduct hands-on field collection, including site visits to clients and on-site account recovery activities.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all communications, agreements, and actions taken on delinquent accounts.
Case Management: Monitor the status of overdue accounts and escalate high-risk cases to management when necessary.
Dispute Resolution: Professionally handle and resolve customer complaints or disputes related to debt collection.
Compliance: Ensure all collection activities adhere to Kenyan laws and company policies regarding debt recovery.
Reporting: Prepare periodic reports on collection activities, recovery progress, and overall portfolio status.
Requirements
Experience: At least 2 years of proven experience in debt collection, specifically within a Microfinance institution.
Education: A Bachelor's degree (BA/BSc/HND) in a relevant field.
Technical Skills: Hands-on field collection experience and a strong understanding of relevant credit and debt collection laws.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to handle pressure and meet targets.
