Underwriting Assistant - Fixed Term

Key Responsibilities

• Enforce underwriting controls and ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Ensure clean and accurate data capture into the company's systems.
• Prepare quotations in a timely manner and conduct necessary follow-ups.
• Handle the debiting of premiums and process policy documents within set timelines.
• Process and check underwriting documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Issue and sign Motor Certificates and Yellow cards.
• Review and dispatch notices and documents as required.
• Ensure all work is performed within the established standards of service and Turnaround Times (TAT).
• Prepare relevant reports for management and departmental consumption.
• Deliver quality customer service to all clients.
• Maintain the safekeeping of security documents.
• Perform daily scanning and indexing of mail.
• Initiate motor valuations and follow up on progress.
• Adhere strictly to the credit control policy and the authority matrix.
• Follow up on renewals to ensure maximum retention of profitable accounts.
• Process refunds in a timely manner and follow up as needed.
• Maintain a fully orderly and up-to-date registry.
• Ensure compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) guidelines.
• Maximize cross-selling and up-selling opportunities.
• Perform any other duties as may be required by management.

Skills and Competencies

• Basic underwriting skills and insurance product knowledge.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Proficiency in computer applications.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in business-related courses, preferably specializing in Insurance.
