Job Description
Information about the Role
This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in the field of Robotics and Instrumentation. This is the entry grade for Masters’ degree holders into the academic cadre at Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology.
Responsibilities and Duties
Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively.
Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and presenting at national and international learned conferences.
Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students and their research.
Write proposals for research and development funding.
Significantly contribute to the development of academic policies.
Lead and coordinate research activities in their subject areas.
Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
Participate in curriculum development and review.
Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development.
Handle examination preparation, administration, and management.
Participate in the administration and management of departmental programs and activities.
Undertake community outreach activities.
Provide leadership in the department or school where appropriate.
Participate in the development and review of academic programs.
Attend and participate in research conferences and seminars.
Requirements and Qualifications
Evidence of registration for a PhD.
An earned Master’s Degree and a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited and recognized University.
At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Registration with a relevant professional body (where applicable) and in good standing.
Evidence of Community Outreach/Engagement.
Possession of relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies in Robotics and Instrumentation.
