Job Description
Role Overview
This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in the specialized field of Robotics and Instrumentation. This is an entry-grade role for Masters' degree holders into the academic cadre at Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology (MMUST).
Key Responsibilities
Instruction: Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Research: Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively. Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and presenting at national and international learned conferences.
Mentorship: Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students in their research projects.
Funding: Write proposals for research and development funding.
Academic Policy: Significantly contribute to the development of academic policies and lead/coordinate research activities in subject areas.
Partnerships: Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
Curriculum: Participate in curriculum development and review of academic programs.
Professional Development: Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development.
Administration: Handle examination preparation, administration, and management. Participate in the administration of departmental programs and activities.
Outreach: Undertake community outreach activities and provide leadership in the department or school where appropriate.
Job Specification and Requirements
PhD Status: Must provide evidence of registration for a PhD.
Education: An earned Master's Degree and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized University.
Research Output: At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Professional Standing: Be registered with a relevant professional body (where applicable) and be in good standing.
Community Engagement: Evidence of Community Outreach/Engagement.
Competencies: Possess relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies specifically in Robotics and Instrumentation.
