This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in the field of Psychiatric Nursing. This serves as the entry grade for Master's degree holders into the academic cadre at the University.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching: Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Research: Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively. Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and presenting at national and international learned conferences.
Mentorship: Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students in their research. Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development within their specialization.
Funding: Write proposals for research and development funding.
Policy & Strategy: Significantly contribute to the development of academic policies and participate in the development and review of academic programmes.
Coordination: Lead and coordinate research activities in subject areas and develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
Curriculum Development: Participate in curriculum development and review.
Academic Management: Handle examination preparation, administration, and management. Participate in the administration and management of departmental programmes and activities.
Community Outreach: Undertake community outreach activities and provide leadership in the department or school where appropriate.
Professional Development: Attend and participate in research conferences and seminars.
Job Specifications and Requirements
PhD Enrollment: Evidence of registration for a PhD is mandatory.
Academic Background: An earned Master's Degree and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized University.
Research Output: At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Professional Status: Be registered with a relevant professional body where applicable and be in good standing.
Community Engagement: Evidence of Community Outreach/Engagement.
Competencies: Possession of relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies for the role.
