Tutorial Fellow - Grade XI (Pediatrics)

Role Overview

This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in the field of Pediatrics. This is the entry grade for Master's degree holders entering this academic cadre at Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology (MMUST).

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively.
• Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and presenting at national and international learned conferences.
• Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students and their research projects.
• Write proposals for research and development funding.
• Significantly contribute to the development of academic policies.
• Lead and coordinate research activities in Pediatrics.
• Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
• Participate in curriculum development and review.
• Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development in their specialization.
• Manage examination preparation, administration, and grading.
• Participate in the administration and management of departmental programmes and activities.
• Undertake community outreach activities.
• Provide leadership in the department or school where appropriate.
• Participate in the development and review of academic programs.
• Attend and participate in research conferences and seminars.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Evidence of registration for a PhD.
• An earned Master's Degree and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized University.
• At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
• Registration with a relevant professional body where applicable and in good standing.
• Evidence of Community Outreach/Engagement.
• Relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies.

Additional Clearances

Only successful candidates shall be required to submit valid clearances from:

• Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
• Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
• Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
• Directorate of Criminal Investigation (Certificate of Good Conduct)
• Registered Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
