Job Description
The Tutorial Fellow position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students and undertaking research that influences theory and practice in Medical Social Work. This serves as the entry grade for Masters' degree holders into the academic cadre at the university.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively.
Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and national/international learned conferences.
Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students and their research.
Write proposals for research and development funding.
Contribute significantly to the development of academic policies.
Lead and coordinate research activities in their subject areas.
Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
Participate in curriculum development and review.
Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development in their specialization.
Examination preparation, administration, and management.
Participate in administration and management of departmental programmes and activities.
Undertake community outreach activities.
Provide leadership in the department or school where appropriate.
Participate in the development and review of academic programmes.
Attend and participate in research conferences and seminars.
Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time.
Job Specifications and Requirements
Evidence of registration for a PhD.
An earned Master's Degree and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized University.
At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Be registered with a relevant professional body where applicable and in good standing.
Evidence of Community Outreach/Engagement.
Relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies.
Tenure of Service
The position of Tutorial Fellow shall be on contract terms.
