Job Description
Role Overview
This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in the field of Medical Physiology. This role serves as the entry grade for Master's degree holders into this academic cadre within the university.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning: Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Research & Innovation: Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively. Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and presenting at national and international learned conferences.
Student Mentorship: Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students and their research projects.
Funding: Write proposals for research and development funding.
Academic Policy: Significantly contribute to the development of academic policies and lead/coordinate research activities in subject areas.
Partnerships: Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
Curriculum Development: Participate in curriculum development and review of academic programs.
Capacity Building: Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development in their specialization.
Administration: Handle examination preparation, administration, and management. Participate in the administration and management of departmental programs and activities.
Community Service: Undertake community outreach activities and provide leadership in the department or school where appropriate.
Other Duties: Perform any other related duty assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Requirements
PhD Status: Evidence of current registration for a PhD.
Academic Degrees: An earned Master's Degree and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized University.
Publications: At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Professional Standing: Be registered with a relevant professional body where applicable and in good standing.
Outreach: Evidence of Community Outreach or Engagement.
Competencies: Relevant knowledge, skills, and academic competencies.
