Job Description
Role Overview
This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in a given field. This is the entry grade for Masters’ degree holders into this academic cadre at Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology (MMUST). The university is seeking Tutorial Fellows in Literature (2 positions) and French (1 position).
Key Responsibilities
Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively.
Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and presenting at national and international learned conferences.
Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students in their research.
Write proposals for research and development funding.
Significantly contribute to the development of academic policies.
Lead and coordinate research activities in specific subject areas.
Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
Participate in curriculum development and review.
Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development.
Handle examination preparation, administration, and management.
Participate in the administration and management of departmental programmes and activities.
Undertake community outreach activities.
Provide leadership in the department or school where appropriate.
Participate in the development and review of academic programmes.
Attend and participate in research conferences and seminars.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: An earned Master’s Degree and a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited and recognized University.
PhD Status: Evidence of registration for a PhD program.
Publications: At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Professional Membership: Be registered with a relevant professional body (where applicable) and be in good standing.
Community Engagement: Evidence of involvement in community outreach or engagement.
Competencies: Possess relevant knowledge, skills, and academic competencies.

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
Directorate of Criminal Investigation (Certificate of Good Conduct)
Registered Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
