This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influence theory and practice in a given field. This will be the entry grade for Masters’ degree holders into this cadre.
Job Responsibilities
Teaching: Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Research: Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively.
Dissemination: Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and national and international learned conferences.
Mentorship: Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students and their research.
Funding: Write proposals for research and development funding.
Policy & Leadership: Significantly contribute to the development of academic policies. Lead and coordinate research activities in their subject areas.
Partnerships: Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
Curriculum: Participate in curriculum development and review of academic programmes.
Development: Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development in their specialization.
Examinations: Preparation, administration, and management of examinations.
Administration: Participate in the administration and management of departmental programmes and activities.
Outreach: Undertake community outreach activities.
Seminars: Attending and participating in research conferences and seminars.
General Duties: Perform any other related duty assigned from time to time.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: An earned Master’s Degree and a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited and recognized University.
PhD Progress: Evidence of registration for a PhD.
Publications: At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Professionalism: Be registered with a relevant professional body where applicable and in good standing.
Community Engagement: Evidence of Community Outreach/Engagement.
Competencies: Possess relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies.
