Job Description
Role Overview
This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in a given field. This is the entry grade for Master's degree holders into this academic cadre. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the academic excellence of the university through teaching, research, and community service.
Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Delivery: Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, including examination preparation, administration, and management.
Research and Publication: Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively. Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and presenting at national and international conferences.
Student Mentorship: Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students in their research. Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development.
Resource Mobilization: Write proposals for research and development funding.
Academic Governance: Significantly contribute to the development of academic policies and participate in the development and review of academic programs and curricula.
Collaboration: Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
Administrative Duties: Participate in the administration and management of departmental programs and activities. Provide leadership in the department or school where appropriate.
Community Engagement: Undertake community outreach activities and participate in research conferences and seminars.
Other Duties: Perform any other related duty assigned by university leadership from time to time.
Job Specification and Requirements
Academic Credentials: An earned Master's Degree and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized University.
Advanced Studies: Evidence of registration for a PhD program.
Academic Productivity: At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Professional Standing: Be registered with a relevant professional body (where applicable) and in good standing.
Community Service: Evidence of Community Outreach or Engagement.
Competencies: Relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies in the French language and pedagogy.
