Job Description
Role Overview
This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in the field of Food Technology. This is the entry grade for Master’s degree holders into this cadre at Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching: Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Research Management: Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively.
Publication: Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and presenting at national and international learned conferences.
Mentorship: Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students and their research.
Funding: Write proposals for research and development funding.
Policy Contribution: Significantly contribute to the development of academic policies and lead subject-area research activities.
Networking: Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
Curriculum Development: Participate in the development and review of academic programmes and curriculum.
Early-Career Guidance: Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training and skills acquisition.
Academic Administration: Manage examination preparation, administration, and departmental activities.
Community Engagement: Undertake community outreach activities and provide leadership in the department or school.
Job Requirements
Evidence of registration for a PhD.
An earned Master’s Degree and a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited and recognized University.
At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Registration with a relevant professional body where applicable and in good standing.
Evidence of Community Outreach/Engagement.
Relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies.
