Job Description
Role Overview
This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in the field of Early Childhood education. This serves as the entry grade for Master's degree holders into the academic cadre at Grade XI.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Mentorship: Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students and their research.
Research & Publication: Lead and manage teams in conducting individual or collaborative research. Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and presenting at national and international learned conferences.
Academic Leadership: Lead and coordinate research activities in the subject area of Early Childhood education. Contribute significantly to the development of academic policies.
Program Development: Participate in curriculum development and review. Participate in the development and review of academic programs.
Grant Writing: Write proposals for research and development funding.
Partnerships: Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
Mentoring: Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development in their specialization.
Administration: Manage examination preparation, administration, and management. Participate in the administration and management of departmental programmes and activities. Provide leadership in the department or school where appropriate.
Engagement: Undertake community outreach activities and attend/participate in research conferences and seminars.
Job Specifications & Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
Education: An earned Master's Degree and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized University.
Doctoral Progress: Evidence of registration for a PhD.
Research Record: At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Professional Standing: Be registered with a relevant professional body where applicable and be in good standing.
Community Engagement: Evidence of Community Outreach/Engagement.
Competencies: Possession of relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies suited for university-level instruction.
Tenure of Service
The position of Tutorial Fellow shall be on contract terms.
