Job Description
Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology (MMUST) is seeking a Tutorial Fellow (Grade XI) specializing in Curriculum and Instruction. This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in the field. This is an entry-grade position for Master’s degree holders entering the academic cadre.
Job Purpose
To provide high-quality teaching to undergraduate students and conduct research that contributes to academic knowledge and practical applications in Curriculum and Instruction.
Responsibilities
Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively.
Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and presenting at national and international conferences.
Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students and their research.
Write proposals for research and development funding.
Significantly contribute to the development of academic policies and coordinate research activities in the subject area.
Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
Participate in curriculum development and review.
Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development.
Handle examination preparation, administration, and management.
Participate in the administration and management of departmental programmes and activities.
Undertake community outreach activities.
Provide leadership in the department or school where appropriate.
Participate in the development and review of academic programmes.
Attend and participate in research conferences and seminars.
Requirements
Evidence of registration for a PhD.
An earned Master’s Degree and a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited and recognized University.
At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Registration with a relevant professional body (where applicable) and in good standing.
Evidence of Community Outreach/Engagement.
Relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies.
Additional Information for Applicants
Applicants with foreign-earned qualifications should have their certificates certified by the Commission for University Education (CUE).
Only successful candidates will be required to submit valid clearances from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Directorate of Criminal Investigation (Certificate of Good Conduct), and a Registered Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
