Job Description
Role Overview
This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in the field of Criminology. This is the entry grade for Master's degree holders into this academic cadre.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively.
Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and participating in national and international learned conferences.
Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students and their research.
Write proposals for research and development funding.
Significantly contribute to the development of academic policies.
Lead and coordinate research activities in assigned subject areas.
Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
Participate in curriculum development and review.
Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development in their specialization.
Manage examination preparation, administration, and grading.
Participate in the administration and management of departmental programmes and activities.
Undertake community outreach activities.
Provide leadership in the department or school where appropriate.
Participate in the development and review of academic programmes.
Attend and participate in research conferences and seminars.
Perform any other related duties assigned by the university from time to time.
Qualifications and Requirements
Evidence of registration for a PhD.
An earned Master's Degree and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized University.
At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Registration with a relevant professional body where applicable and in good standing.
Evidence of Community Outreach/Engagement.
Possession of relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies.
Tenure of Service
The position of Tutorial Fellow shall be on contract terms.
