Job Description
Role Overview
This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in the field of Agricultural Education and Extension. This is the entry-level grade for Master’s degree holders entering this academic cadre. The successful candidate will be expected to balance instructional duties with active research and community engagement while progressing toward their doctoral qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Instruction: Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Research and Publication: Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively. Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and presenting at national and international learned conferences.
Student Mentorship: Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students and their research projects.
Funding and Development: Write proposals for research and development funding.
Academic Leadership: Significantly contribute to the development of academic policies and coordinate research activities within subject areas.
Collaboration: Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions locally and internationally.
Curriculum Development: Participate in the development and review of academic programs and curricula.
Academic Support: Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development.
Administration: Manage examination preparation, administration, and departmental program activities. Provide leadership in the department or school as appropriate.
Community Engagement: Undertake community outreach activities and participate in research conferences and seminars.
Job Specifications
Evidence of registration for a PhD program.
An earned Master's Degree and a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited and recognized University.
At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Registration with a relevant professional body (where applicable) and in good standing.
Evidence of community outreach or engagement.
Relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies in Agricultural Education and Extension.
Tenure of Service
The position of Tutorial Fellow shall be on contract terms.
