Job Description
This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in a given field. This is the entry grade for Master's degree holders entering this academic cadre.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching: Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Research: Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively. Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and presenting at national and international learned conferences.
Student Mentorship: Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students in their research activities.
Resource Mobilization: Write proposals for research and development funding.
Academic Policy: Contribute significantly to the development of academic policies and lead/coordinate research activities in specific subject areas.
Partnerships: Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions locally and internationally.
Curriculum Development: Participate in the development and review of academic curricula and programs.
Career Guidance: Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development within their specialization.
Academic Administration: Manage examination preparation, administration, and overall departmental programs and activities.
Community Outreach: Undertake community outreach activities and provide leadership in the department or school where appropriate.
Job Specification
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
Evidence of registration for a PhD.
An earned Master's Degree and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized university.
At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Registration with a relevant professional body (where applicable) and in good standing.
Evidence of community outreach or engagement.
Possession of relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies.
