Role Overview
Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) is seeking to recruit a Tutorial Fellow (Grade 11) for the Department of Botany. This is an academic position aimed at individuals who are beginning their careers in higher education and research within the field of Plant Sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to support teaching activities, engage in research, and actively work towards completing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
Key Responsibilities
Deliver instructional materials and assist in the teaching of undergraduate courses within the Botany department.
Conduct and participate in research projects, contributing to scientific publications and departmental research goals.
Prepare, administer, and grade student assignments, practical reports, and examinations.
Supervise undergraduate laboratory sessions and practical work.
Engage in departmental administrative tasks and attend academic committee meetings.
Register for and make consistent progress towards a PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification.
Participate in community outreach and professional development activities as organized by the University.
Qualifications and Requirements
Master's Degree: Must have earned a Master of Science degree in Plant Science with a relevant specialization from an accredited and recognized university.
Bachelor's Degree: Must have earned a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
PhD Progression: Candidates must be registrable for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Doctoral degree qualification.
Professional Registration: Must be registered or registrable with the relevant professional body where applicable.
Experience: Prior teaching and research experience in an institution of higher learning is not mandatory but will be considered a distinct added advantage.
