Job Description
Reporting to the Chairperson, the Tutorial Fellow will support the Department of Sociology, Gender, and Development Studies by performing academic and administrative tasks while pursuing their doctoral studies. This role is crucial for maintaining departmental standards in teaching and student assessment.
Responsibilities and Duties
Teaching both Diploma and undergraduate students.
Setting, marking, and processing results for units offered to diploma and undergraduate students.
Supervising and marking research projects for diploma programmes.
Supporting departmental work, such as collaborating with senior colleagues and professors on research projects.
Supporting the departmental examination coordinators in the smooth running of examination offices.
Serving on Departmental committees to help achieve strategic objectives.
Carrying out any other work as may be assigned by the Head of the Department.
Qualifications and Requirements
Master’s Degree in Sociology and/or Gender and Development Studies from a recognized institution.
Teaching experience at the university level will be an added advantage.
Applicants must be prepared to pursue a Ph.D. in Sociology and/or Gender and Development Studies.
Registration or willingness to pursue a PhD Degree in Sociology or Gender and Development Studies is an added advantage.
Commitment to complete doctoral studies within the stipulated time of three (3) years.

Strong commitment to scholarship through collaboration with scholars and academic staff.
Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff and students.

Terms of Service
Tutorial Fellows are employed on a one (1) year renewable contract up to a maximum of three (3) years. A competitive remuneration package, including basic salary, house allowance, and medical cover as per the University Scheme, will be provided.
