Job Description
The University of Embu (UoEm) is seeking a qualified individual to join the faculty as a Tutorial Fellow in Actuarial Science. This role is intended for academic professionals who are currently advancing their scholarship through doctoral studies. The successful candidate will support the department in teaching undergraduate students, contributing to academic research, and participating in departmental activities while making significant progress toward completing their PhD.### Requirements and Qualifications\nTo be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:\n- : Must be a holder of a Bachelor’s degree of at least Second Class Upper Division from a recognized university.\n- : Must hold a Master’s degree from a recognized university in the area of specialty (Actuarial Science).\n- : Applicants must be currently registered for a PhD degree and have made substantial progress in their PhD studies.\n- : Evidence of progress made in the PhD studies (e.g., a PhD progress report) MUST be submitted with the application.### Responsibilities\nWhile specific duties are not exhaustive in the posting, Tutorial Fellows typically perform the following:\n- Delivering lectures and tutorials to undergraduate students.\n- Preparing course outlines and teaching materials.\n- Setting, invigilating, and marking examinations and assignments.\n- Engaging in academic research and publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals.\n- Assisting in the development of curricula and attending departmental meetings.### How to Apply\nInterested and qualified candidates should prepare an application package containing both hard and soft copies.
