Job Description
The Tupande MEL Manager oversees all Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) functions within Tupande. This role involves managing ongoing and future MEL projects in Kenya to ensure they meet the needs of in-country teams, global teams, and various donors. You will contribute to thought leadership, particularly focusing on data quality initiatives that advance Tupande’s Impact Plan and vision. Key responsibilities include:
MEL Strategy and Execution
Leadership: Independently lead in-country or program-level impact evaluations and studies. Represent MEL work within the organization and ensure actionable results are communicated clearly.
Workstream Ownership: Take full ownership of complex workstreams while overseeing all other MEL projects within the country.
Evaluation Planning: Develop comprehensive evaluation plans, from theories of change to study designs and implementation plans.
Quality Assurance: Establish and improve frameworks for monitoring, analysis, and reporting to ensure data integrity and alignment with organizational systems.
Team Management: Oversee the hiring, development, and performance management of the MEL staff.
Strategic Partnership: Support senior leadership in strategic decision-making related to impact work and strengthen the use of high-quality data across the organization.
Data Analysis and Reporting
Framework Development: Update or create analytical frameworks, exploring efficiencies like data automation and cleaning.
Ownership: Own all analysis and reporting of MEL data for Tupande.
Impact Strategy Advancement
Innovation: Develop studies that support the impact strategy and explore new opportunities for impact measurement.
Goal Setting: Contribute to MEL goals based on the overarching Tupande Impact Strategy.
Grant and Partner Support
Technical Support: Provide methodology and analytical support for grant-specific requests and annual reporting.
Representation: Represent the MEL department in meetings with partners and donors.
