Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully fledged chartered university committed to a broad-based, wholistic and inclusive system of education. The university is seeking a Full Time Trainer in Community Health to join its academic team in Nakuru. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, and teaching assigned units within the Community Health curriculum, ensuring alignment with the TVET Act 2013 and Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Plan, prepare, and teach the units assigned, as outlined in the course outline in line with the course curriculum.
Learning Materials: Development of learning materials and deliver appropriate learning plans for individual students.
Record Keeping: Timely preparation and submission of professional records and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement, and attendance.
Assessment: Assess students' work and monitor their achievement. This includes examining and marking Trainees’ Assessment Tests (C.A.Ts and end-of-term assessments) and timely uploading of marks in the Management Information System (MIS).
Practical Training: Carry out practical instructions for trainees and maintain their portfolios of evidence.
Supervision: Supervise students during assessments.
Curriculum Implementation: Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of a high-quality curriculum, adapting delivery patterns to meet student needs.
Administrative Support: Participate in departmental meetings and perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Community Health from a recognized institution.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience in health training in a similar institution.
Knowledge: Understanding of the TVET Act 2013 and the CBET curriculum.
Registration: Must hold a valid Technical Trainer Registration by TVETA.
