The University of Embu (UoEm) was established as a Constituent College of the University of Nairobi via a Legal Notice No. 65 of 17th June, 2011 by His Excellency the President. UoEm is the successor of the former Embu Agricultural Staff Training (EAST) College which started in 1947 as an agricultural training school and was later renamed Embu Institute of Agriculture in 1968. In 1990, it was upgraded to be Embu Agricultural Staff Training (EAST) College whose mandate was to develop and implement short management and technical courses, and offer research and consultancy services to enhance performance in the agricultural sector.
Role Overview
The University of Embu is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Technician (Civil Engineering Lab). The technician will be responsible for running laboratory sessions, maintaining equipment, and supporting academic and research activities in the Civil Engineering department.
Duties & Responsibilities
Operate and maintain civil engineering laboratory equipment.
Assist and guide students during practical laboratory and research sessions.
Enforce safety guidelines and protocols in the laboratory.
Maintain inventory records of lab equipment and supplies.
Support departmental academic and administrative requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
Must be a holder of at least KCSE C- (Minus).
Must hold a Diploma and a Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Have at least three (3) years of relevant post-qualification work experience as a technician, preferably in an institution of higher learning.
Must be registered by the Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board.
Proven ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment and assist in student laboratory/practical and research work.
Proficiency in computer applications.
