Job Description
About the Role
Palladium is seeking a Technical Consultant to deliver a practical advocacy toolkit with standardized messaging guides. The toolkit should be evidence-based and designed to ensure sustainable male engagement in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). The role involves the application of behavioral science to craft evidence-based messages that are tailored to the target audience (men and boys).
Key Objectives
1. Develop and Operationalize Advocacy Toolkit
Create a practical toolkit with stakeholders, including messaging and community dialogue guides that encourage reflection, empathy, and collective problem-solving.
Incorporate participatory approaches such as storytelling, role-plays, and peer discussions for gradual behavior shift.
Convene workshops with government agencies, CSOs, and community leaders to co-design the toolkit, ensuring cultural relevance and ownership.
Draft messaging guides, dialogue frameworks, and facilitation tools grounded in evidence and aligned with national SRHR strategies.
2. Enhance Consistent Messaging
Develop standardized communication templates to ensure coherence across institutions and communities regarding positive masculinity and gender equity.
Ensure that the toolkit is evidence-based, culturally sensitive, and adaptable across diverse community contexts.
3. Evidence-Based Messaging Using Behavioural Research
Ensure that all proposed messaging is informed by behavioral research insights.
Tailor messages to resonate with specific audience segments, addressing their unique motivations and concerns.
Use focus groups and rapid surveys to test message effectiveness before wide rollout and refine based on community responses.
Requirements
Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Social Sciences, Public Health, Gender Studies, Development Studies, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Social Behaviour Change and Communication (SBCC) and advocacy.
Strong background in SBCC approaches, including evidence-based messaging and community dialogue facilitation.
Proven experience in advocacy and policy development, including designing advocacy tools and supporting policy integration.
Practical experience in community engagement, specifically working with diverse groups (men, boys, women, youth, elders) to challenge harmful norms.
Ability to conduct behavioral insights research and translate findings into actionable communications strategies.
Experience working with government institutions (preferably in Kenya or similar contexts) on demographic data and evidence-based planning and budgeting.
High-level communication, report writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
