The United Nations is seeking a System Administrator to configure, maintain, and support application environments across development, quality control, and production stages. This role involves collaboration with system architects, developers, and analysts to manage environment resources, manage deployment pipelines, and ensure compliance with UN security policies and IT governance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Environment Management: Configure and maintain application environments, including development, quality control, and production environments. Manage environment provisioning, configuration management, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
Collaboration & Support: Work collaboratively with system architects, system analysts, and developers to provide appropriate access and resources for application server environments.
Deployment Coordination: Deploy completed software packages to all environments following established deployment pipelines, and coordinate deployment schedules with development teams and stakeholders.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor system performance, availability, and health across all application environments. Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, technical issues, and system bottlenecks.
Documentation & Compliance: Document system configurations, procedures, and technical specifications. Maintain up-to-date documentation of environment architecture and dependencies. Ensure compliance with UN security policies and IT governance standards.
Innovation: Keep abreast of developments in the field, perform benchmarking, and propose new acquisitions.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: A first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a relevant field is required. A Master's degree in a related field is desirable.
Windows Administration: Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience interacting with and administering MS Windows Server environments (server administration, PowerShell scripting, Windows Server configuration).
DevOps Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience with DevOps processes and tools, including Azure DevOps (boards, repos, pipelines, artifacts).
Environment Configuration: Proven experience configuring and maintaining multiple application environments.
Cloud Management: Experience with Azure cloud management (including PaaS) is desirable.
