The Open University of Kenya (OUK) is an innovative institution employing technology-driven teaching and learning methodologies, including online and distance education. We are currently seeking qualified Supervisors for the Postgraduate Diploma in Education to provide academic and research guidance to candidates. The role involves leveraging OUK's digital platforms to mentor students and ensure high standards of research and ethics.
Roles and Responsibilities
Academic Supervision: Provide comprehensive academic and research supervision to Masters and PhD candidates.
Research Guidance: Assist candidates in proposal development, research design, data collection, analysis, and thesis writing.
Virtual Mentorship: Mentor candidates through virtual supervision using OUK's digital platforms and online engagement tools.
Quality Assurance: Ensure all candidates adhere to OUK's Graduate Studies Policy, research ethics, and other University quality standards and timelines.
Reporting: Provide regular and timely feedback and progress reports on student milestones as per institutional guidelines.
Thesis Support: Assist candidates in preparing for thesis defense and the subsequent publication of research outputs.
Requirements and Qualifications
For PhD Supervisors
An earned PhD in a relevant field from a recognised institution.
A minimum of three (3) peer-reviewed publications within the last five (5) years.
Strong digital mentoring skills and the ability to engage learners effectively in virtual environments.
Prior experience with online or virtual supervision is considered an added advantage.
For Masters Supervisors
PhD in a relevant field OR a Master’s degree with significant research/professional experience in specialized areas.
Demonstrated experience in supervising Masters candidates to successful completion.
A minimum of two (2) peer-reviewed publications within the last five (5) years.
Strong digital mentoring and online engagement skills.
Prior experience with virtual supervision is an added advantage.
