Job Description
The Stewarding Supervisor oversees the stewarding team to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organization across kitchens and food service areas. This role safeguards food safety compliance, supports kitchen operations, and maintains equipment and inventory while leading and motivating the stewarding team.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise the cleaning and sanitation of kitchen equipment, utensils, floors, and back-of-house areas.
Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and occupational health and safety (OHS) standards.
Conduct routine inspections and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Maintain proper waste management and recycling practices within the facility.
Monitor the availability and condition of cleaning supplies and kitchen equipment.
Coordinate necessary repairs or replacements of stewarding tools.
Ensure the safe storage and proper use of cleaning chemicals by the team.
Enforce safety procedures to prevent accidents and ensure chemical handling compliance.
Participate in internal and external audits and inspections.
Requirements and Qualifications
A Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality or a related field is preferred.
2–4 years of experience in stewarding, with specific exposure to supervisory or leadership roles.
Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards (HACCP or similar).
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
