Amref Health Africa in Kenya is the country programme office of Amref Health Africa, Africa’s largest International Health NGO. Under the Center Court Africa project, the SRHR Technical Officer will support activities at the community level that facilitate the acceptance of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) through sporting activities among adolescents, young people, and community members. The position holder will be based in Nairobi County and will support demand creation and service delivery activities in target sub-counties.
Principal Responsibilities
Technical Support to Project Implementation
Promote SRHR service delivery through static facilities and outreach models.
Promote integration of services in different service delivery points (e.g., FP/RH into HIV/TB clinics).
Strengthen inter-facility referral for family planning services.
Support training and mentorship sessions for SRHR Champions.
Support sports tournaments and bonanzas in Dagoretti Sub County.
Facilitate peer champion-led intergenerational community dialogues on SRHR.
Facilitate career guidance, life skills, and mentorship sessions for adolescent mothers.
Support linkage of adolescents and young mother support groups to financial institutions and government safety net programmes.
Facilitate annual sports career guidance, life skills, and mentorship sports and engagement days for girls and boys.
Regularly undertake field activities with Implementing partners and provide technical and mentoring support to ensure timely implementation and quality outcomes.
Support execution of periodic planning, review meetings, and workshops.
Coordinate the development and implementation of a multi-year work plan.
Support advocacy and communication processes for the project.
Partnership and Networking
Establish and support quarterly sports stakeholder meetings with sports clubs, local businesses, sports federations, and talent academies.
Liaise with relevant partners, stakeholders, and collaborators at community, sub-county, county, and national levels.
Maintain a good working relationship between Amref, Ministry of Health, Nairobi City County, and other stakeholders.
Participate in the drawing, implementation, and supervision of quarterly and annual project implementation plans.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Knowledge Management
Prepare project activity reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
Conduct regular field visits to project beneficiaries to monitor progress.
Participate in the development of case studies and human-interest stories.
Coordinate SRHR content development for health communication.
Admin and Financial Management
Support day-to-day management of activity budgets, including processing field imprests and financial transactions.
Ensure timely accounting for the use of project resources.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Community Health, Social Sciences, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience implementing adolescent SRHR, youth empowerment, gender, or community health programmes.
Demonstrated experience facilitating life skills training and mentorship programmes, particularly for girls and vulnerable populations.
Strong understanding of adolescent-friendly health services, GBV prevention and response, MHPSS, and safeguarding principles.
Experience using sports, youth clubs, or schools to engage adolescents in health promotion is highly desirable.
Proven ability to create safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces for adolescents.
Experience working with schools, community leaders, youth groups, and county governments.
Strong facilitation, communication, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement skills.
ICT proficiency.
