Sports Officer

The County Government of Kitui is seeking to recruit qualified individuals for the position of Sports Officer (2 Posts). This role involves developing, promoting, and managing sports activities within the county, identifying talent, and ensuring community participation in sports programs. This is a permanent and pensionable position.

Salary and Terms of Service

• Salary Scale: Ksh. 39,700 x 1,470 – 41,170 x 1,520 – 42,690 x 1,710 – 44,400 x 1,920 – 46,320 x 2,000 – 48,320 x 2,290 – 50,610 x 2,350 – 52,690 per month.
• Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable.

Duties and Responsibilities

The appointed officer will be responsible for:

1. Developing and promoting sports activities.
2. Identifying sports talents.
3. Mobilizing and sensitizing the local community to participate in sports.
4. Organizing matches.
5. Liaising with volunteers to support sports programmes.
6. Collecting data and preparing reports on sports functions and competitions.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must meet the following criteria:

• Be a Citizen of Kenya.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Physical Education, Sports Science, Leisure and Recreation Management or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• OR A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Sports Administration and Management lasting not less than two (2) years from a recognized institution.
• Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
