Special Needs Teacher

Our client based in Mombasa is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teacher to provide personalized support for a child with care and learning needs. The successful candidate will foster the child’s academic, social, and emotional growth. This role is suited to someone seeking a meaningful and challenging opportunity to make a tangible difference.\n\n### Core Duties and Responsibilities\n- Create personalized learning goals based on the child’s abilities, motor function, and communication style.\n- Teach basic academic concepts at the child’s level (literacy, numeracy, or adapted curriculum).\n- Help the child express needs, feelings, and choices effectively.\n- Safely assist with mobility or positioning as needed.\n- Teach self-care and daily living skills appropriate to the child’s abilities.\n- Adapt the learning environment for safety, accessibility, and comfort.\n- Support social, emotional, and behavioral development.\n- Communicate regularly and transparently with the family/guardians regarding breakthroughs and challenges.\n- Foster independence, self-advocacy, and life skills in the student.\n- Utilize special facilities, assistive technology, and other learning resources effectively.\n- Support transitions between activities or settings (e.g., home, therapy sessions, school).\n- Making use of special facilities and/or equipment.\n\n### Requirements and Qualifications\n- Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching students with special needs.\n- Certificate or Diploma in Special Needs Education.\n- Valid teaching certification/licensure.\n- Knowledge of sign language is an added advantage.\n\n### Key Competencies\n- Empathetic, patient, and resilient.\n- Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion.\n- Adaptable and able to respond flexibly to changing needs.\n- Organized and able to prioritize tasks under pressure.\n- Innovative, Creative, resourceful, and solution-oriented.\n- Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills.\n- Demonstrates the highest standards of integrity.\n- Skilled in using assistive technology and educational tools.\n\n### How to Apply\nInterested and qualified candidates should forward their CV to: using the position as subject of email.
