Role Overview
The incumbent will be responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of dynamic, interactive, and meaningful social media content strategies and packages. This includes managing UNEP's global social media channels and driving engagement for major campaigns like World Environment Day.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement social media content strategies for global campaigns, including the year-long World Environment Day campaign.
Content Production: Produce compelling content for UNEP’s social media channels, including X, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, BlueSky, and TikTok.
Visual Design: Design and develop visual content assets, such as social media cards, reels, and other formats to support day-to-day engagement.
Community Management: Perform daily community management, including scheduling, proofreading, and checking content for accuracy and timeliness.
Monitoring & Moderation: Monitor and moderate social media channels, flagging risks and identifying opportunities to deepen audience engagement.
Editorial Collaboration: Coordinate editorial planning with colleagues managing UNEP’s Arabic, French, Spanish, Chinese, and Russian social media channels.
Analytics: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for social media efforts and report on performance to identify improvement opportunities.
Innovation: Identify new opportunities to continually improve UNEP’s digital presence across platforms.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: A Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication, digital marketing, or a related field is required.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience managing social media channels is required.
Copywriting: Stellar social copywriting and editing skills are essential.
Communication: Proven ability to translate technical and nuanced environmental information into clear, emotional, and engaging content for broad public audiences.
Technical Tools: Experience using social media scheduling tools and design software such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite is required.
Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task efficiently.
Desirable: Previous experience with a multilateral or international/UN organization is an added advantage.
