M-Pesa Africa (MPA) is looking for a Senior Specialist in Cloud & Network Cyber Security. This role is responsible for coordinating the optimization of Operational & Monitoring cyber security baseline (CSB) controls across all MPA relevant business areas and processes associated with Network Security. The successful candidate will design and implement security measures, monitor traffic, and ensure the organization stays ahead of potential threats.
Key Responsibilities
Impact on the Business
Coordinate optimization of the Operational & Monitoring cyber security baselines (CSB) controls across all MPA business areas.
Design and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
Monitor network traffic for unusual activity and respond to security breaches.
Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments for perimeter security and network-related vulnerabilities (e.g., unsecure ports).
Develop and enforce security policies and procedures.
Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure comprehensive security measures.
Stay updated with the latest security trends, threats, and technology solutions.
Provide training and knowledge sharing to staff on network security practices.
Support all internal and external audits around technology systems and processes; ensure systems are free from known audit findings and close findings within agreed timelines.
Customers, Suppliers, and Third Parties
Ensure compliance with Legal, Regulatory, and key stakeholder requirements across technology domains.
Monitor compliance of the Cyber Security Managed Services contract to ensure performance within agreed SLAs.
Validate and ensure timely completion and accuracy of technology audit checklists and user access rights reviews.
Coordinate analytical processes and incident response measures.
Ensure implementation and change management process compliance for all planned and emergency changes.
Innovation and Change
Contribute to the Security and Privacy by Design Assurance (SPDA) processes for GDPR and business requirements.
Continually review and enforce security policies and controls to adapt to changing security landscapes.
Set up analytics frameworks and tools.
Drive continuous improvement through simplification of key cyber security processes.
Lead service review meetings with internal and third-party providers regarding performance and service improvements.
Qualifications and Requirements
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent technology-related degree.
Proven experience as a Network Security Senior Specialist or similar role.
In-depth knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, VPNs, and security tools.
At least one professional Network Security Qualification: CompTIA Security+ or CCNA Security.
Advanced competencies in Network Security.
Minimum of 5 years of Network Security experience with Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Web Application Firewalls (WAF), VPN administration, Content Filters, and Security Scanning tools.
Minimum of 2 years focused on Network Security Solutions implementation and maintenance.
Proficiency in the use of security tools.
Strong project management skills and proven task execution.
Proactive approach to staying ahead of potential security threats and strong analytical thinking.
