The Senior Programme Management Officer (P5) at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is a high-level leadership role based in Nairobi. The officer is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of significant environmental programs, particularly focusing on biodiversity and ecosystem health. As a representative of the leading global environmental authority, the incumbent ensures the environmental dimension of sustainable development is integrated within the UN system. ### Key Responsibilities: - : Lead the design, execution, and assessment of complex environmental projects and programmes. - : Direct the implementation of gender guidelines across all organizational policies and activities. - : Oversee research and evaluations, translating diverse data into actionable insights for policy development. - : Utilize data analytics and visualization techniques (graphs, charts, etc.) to identify trends and inform decision-making. - : Establish and maintain high-level partnerships with governments and international organizations. - : Coordinate budgetary activities, including funding submissions and financial reporting. - : Supervise and develop a multidisciplinary team of professionals and consultants. ### Requirements: - : Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Environment, Ecosystem Health, or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree with 12 total years of relevant experience is also acceptable. - : At least 10 years of professional experience in project/programme management specifically within biodiversity or ecosystem health sectors. - : Proven experience in environmental dimensions of health, including climate and ecosystem aspects. - : Minimum of 5 years of experience working with international governments and stakeholders. - : Experience in inter-agency secretariats, managing multi-partner funds, or managing multidisciplinary teams.
