Skills Geographic Kenya (SGK) is one of the leading Human Resource Management consultancy firms in Kenya and the East African Region. We are currently seeking a Senior Procurement Officer specialized in Imports to manage and optimize the procurement lifecycle for imported materials.
Role Overview
The Senior Procurement Officer - Imports is responsible for ensuring continuous stock availability, negotiating competitive pricing, and maintaining robust supplier relationships, particularly within a manufacturing context. The role involves strategic oversight of inventory to eliminate stock-outs and optimize working capital.
Key Responsibilities
- Stock Availability: Perform weekly monitoring of inventory based on min/max levels to eliminate stock-outs. Maintain sufficient buffer stocks on critical imported materials to ensure production continuity.
- Price Negotiation: Closely monitor current market price drivers for raw and packaging materials to avoid high costs. Monitor international market pricing in comparison with local prevailing prices to source the most competitive options.
- Supplier Management: Conduct regular supplier visits and audits to establish better relationships and foster company objectives regarding price, delivery, and scheduling.
- Inventory Movement: Monitor slow-moving and non-moving items, circulate relevant reports, and develop/execute liquidation plans to optimize inventory levels.
- Working Capital Management: Reduce overall working capital by minimizing stock holding at all company locations.
- Audit Support: Provide documentation and support for internal and external financial audit inquiries, reviews, and examinations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Purchasing, Supplies, Logistics Management, or a related field.
- Professional Certifications: A certificate from KRA on the use of iCMS and Kentrade is a mandatory requirement. A Diploma in Clearing & Forwarding is an added advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of working experience, with at least three years specifically within a manufacturing environment. Experience using ERP systems is an added advantage.
Remuneration and Benefits
- Salary: KSh 120,000 - 150,000 per month.
- Benefits: Includes standard company benefits.
