About the Role
The Central Bank of Kenya is seeking a Senior Officer for Payment Services Operations (Senior Business Analyst 2). The role holder facilitates smooth operations of the KEPSS RTGS, SWIFT, and the regional payment systems interfaced to KEPSS. They are also responsible for monitoring the customer helpdesk to ensure high-quality customer service and the continued availability of efficient, reliable, and secure payment systems that support the smooth functioning of the Kenyan economy.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Technical and Operational Responsibilities
System Administration: Administer payment systems operated by the Section, including performing Start of Day (SOD) and End of Day (EOD) processes.
Monitoring: Ensure payment systems are running efficiently and monitor incoming messages and requests.
User Management: Add new payment system participants and users, manage user administration, and conduct user training.
Operational Control: Manage payment systems window extensions and handle the issuance and renewal of tokens and certificates.
Customer Support: Receive and respond to queries from participants, update Treasury contact lists, and manage the Payments System email.
Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise with other user departments to manage requests in a timely manner and perform administrative tasks such as processing invoices for third-party service providers.
Performance and Risk: Continuously monitor system performance, coordinate health checks, and prepare periodic risk status reports for department and risk department review.
Strategic Support: Participate in the implementation of strategic activities, Bank projects, and policy reviews relevant to the division.
Budgeting: Contribute to the preparation of the NPS annual budget for activities within the Section.
Specialized Functions: Perform specific functions unique to SWIFT Services, KEPSS Operations, and Regional Payments.
Other Responsibilities
Participate in stakeholder committees and meetings.
Support the implementation of RTGS and other payment systems-related projects.
Induct new staff members, new system users, and representatives from visiting institutions.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, IT, Banking, Business Administration, Law, or a related field of study.
Professionalism: Professional qualifications and memberships are considered an added advantage.
Experience: Not less than three (3) years’ experience in Payments and Banking operations or a related area.
