Senior Legal Counsel, Regulatory Affairs

Key Responsibilities

• Public Policy & Advocacy: Representing the Group in public policy matters and driving stakeholder engagement to provide input on legislation during drafting stages.
• Regulatory Issue Management: Reviewing, analyzing, and formulating position statements for stakeholder and regulatory compliance (including regional and international standards such as CBK, CMA, CA, IRA, RBA, CAK, KAMP, and PRISK).
• Legislation and Regulation Analysis: Conducting deep-dive reviews of legislation, drafting advisory position statements, and creating business advisory guidelines and resultant action matrices.
• Regulatory Approvals: Directing product and outsourcing regulatory approvals in line with prudential guidelines.
• Dispute & Complaint Resolution: Managing and responding to customer complaints channeled through regulators (e.g., CBK and CAK).
• Group Integration: Executing a standardized group-wide approach to regulatory affairs and managing other assignments as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university.
• Professional Credentials: Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
• Experience: Minimum of five (5) years' post-admission work experience.
• Key Areas of Competency: Solid track record in corporate & commercial legal services, legal drafting, advocacy, legal communication, and risk management.
