Job Description
The National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) was established under the Universities Education Act, 2012, offering specialized education in areas related to security and defence. We are seeking a qualified Senior Lecturer in Medical Surgical Nursing or Critical Care Nursing to join our academic team at the Lanet campus in Nakuru.
Role Overview
The Senior Lecturer will be responsible for academic leadership, delivering high-quality instruction to undergraduate and graduate students, and contributing significantly to the university's research output and curriculum development.
Duties and Responsibilities
Undertaking teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Conducting original research and producing publications or other significant research outputs.
Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects to completion.
Participating in curriculum development and regular review of academic programmes.
Managing examination preparation, administration, and grading.
Participating in the administration and management of departmental programmes and activities.
Developing instructional and learning materials.
Conducting community outreach activities as a representative of the university.
Guiding and counselling students on academic and professional matters.
Attending and participating in research conferences and seminars.
Performing any other related duties assigned by the university administration.
Qualifications and Experience
An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification (or a Master’s degree qualification in special cases) in the relevant area from a recognized and accredited university.
At least three (3) years of teaching or research experience at the university level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow, or six (6) years of relevant research/industry experience.
A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, of which twenty-four (24) must be from refereed scholarly journals.
Successfully supervised at least three (3) postgraduate students to completion as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
Be registered or registrable with the relevant professional body (Nursing Council of Kenya or equivalent).
Proficiency in Computer Applications.
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance.
