National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) was established under Section 24 of the Universities Education Act, 2012. The University offers specialized certificates, diplomas, and degrees in areas related to Defence and security, as well as other dimensions of security. NDU-K is looking for a Senior Lecturer in Gender Studies to join its academic staff at the Lanet campus in Nakuru County. The role involves academic instruction, conducting high-level research, and participating in the administration of departmental activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Undertaking teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Conducting research and producing publications or other research outputs.
- Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects to completion.
- Participating in curriculum development and review.
- Conducting examination preparation, administration, and management.
- Participating in the administration and management of departmental programmes and activities.
- Developing learning materials.
- Conducting community outreach activities.
- Participating in the development and review of academic programmes.
- Guiding and counselling students.
- Attending and participating in research conferences and seminars.
- Performing any other related duties assigned from time to time.
Requirements for Appointment
- An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification (or a Master’s degree qualification in special cases) in the relevant area from a recognized and accredited university.
- At least three (3) years of teaching/research experience at the university level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow OR six (6) years of research/industry experience.
- A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, of which twenty-four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
- Proven track record of supervising at least three (3) postgraduate students to completion as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
- Be registered or registrable with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
- Proficiency in Computer Applications.
- Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance.

- Recommendations from relevant professional bodies (where applicable).
