The University of Embu (UoEm) is seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science. This role is intended for a distinguished academic professional who will contribute to the university's mission of providing high-quality training and research. The successful candidate will lead academic initiatives, mentor students, and contribute significantly to the body of knowledge in the field of Computer Science through continued research and publications.
Responsibilities and Duties
Deliver high-quality lectures at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Computer Science.
Conduct original research in specific areas of Computer Science and related technologies.
Publish research findings in refereed scholarly journals to contribute to academic development.
Successfully supervise postgraduate students, particularly at the Master's level, to completion.
Prepare and submit research proposals to secure internal and external funding.
Provide academic leadership and mentorship within the department and the faculty.
Participate in the development and review of academic programs and curricula.
Represent the university at learned conferences, seminars, and workshops locally and internationally.
Engage in university administrative roles and community service as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must possess an MBA/MSc/MA and a PhD or Fellowship in Computer Science or a related discipline.
Must have at least five (5) years of university teaching experience, three (3) of which must be as a full-time Lecturer.
Must have at least 32 publication points, with 24 of these points being from articles in refereed scholarly journals since being appointed as a Lecturer.
Evidence of having successfully supervised to completion at least four (4) Masters students since being appointed as a Lecturer.
Demonstrated evidence of successfully securing at least one (1) research grant since being appointed as a Lecturer.
Evidence of attendance and active contribution at learned conferences, seminars, or workshops.
Evidence of active participation or leadership in university-wide activities and committees.
Demonstrated evidence of continued research activity in Computer Science.
